Frequently Asked Questions

What is the PCS Program?

The Personal Care Services (PCS) program is an in-home care service that allows family members to care for elderly loved ones or those with disabilities who require assistance with activities of daily living. This includes daily tasks like hygiene needs, housekeeping, medical care, and meal prepping.

Also known as the family caregiver support program in Nevada, this type of program is a great way for seniors and individuals with disabilities or serious health concerns to remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving the care that they need. With the PCS program in Nevada, a personal caregiver can get paid an hourly rate for assisting their loved one.

How Does PCS Work?

The Nevada Medicaid Personal Care Services program empowers you to have greater control over your caregiving. If you qualify, you can select a trusted friend or family member to serve as your paid caregiver.
Your chosen caregiver will visit your home to support you with daily activities you need help with. The family caregiver support program in Nevada allows for a flexible schedule, you can set a daily routine, or your caregiver can visit as needed. After each visit, they will be compensated for their assistance.

What is the PCS Nevada Application Process?

Before you can begin receiving paid care from a family member, you must complete the PCS Nevada application process. Please note that all eligibility requirements must be met prior to starting this process.

If you do not meet these initial requirements, the State of Nevada will not approved you for PCS. Once you meet the eligibility criteria, you can proceed to fill out the initial PCS Nevada application.

The first step involves an assessment. If you pass, you will need to select a fiscal intermediary to serve as a liaison between you and Medicaid for payment of your Nevada in-home support services.

After that, you can choose your caregiver and complete the enrollment process for Nevada’s Family Caregiver Support Program.
